I'm 30!!

I turned 30 years old on April 12th, 2009 (Easter).  I celebrated by doing what I love the most; feeding lots of people at my house and going on a date with my husband!  Here are some pictures.

I can't believe it!!!

Both of the boys fell asleep in the car today so I left them in the garage to nap.  I laid down on my bed to take advantage of this treat.  A few minutes later Judah comes in and gets in bed with me...AND goes back to sleep!  Asher starts fussing, so I quietly roll out of bed and go get him.  He gets a drink, goes to the bathroom, crawls into his bed....AND goes back to sleep!!!!  This is unbelievable, but true!!!!

Sometimes country music says it just right...

I listened to some old music the other day, and this one made me cry (a lot).  I'm so glad God gave me two boys, even though the constant fighting wears me out.

Brotherly Love ~ Keith Whitley and Earl Thomas Conley

We shared the same last name and the same color eyes
But we fought like tigers over that old red bike
I'm battin' first and you can't use my glove
It wouldn't take long 'til push came to shove
But, we looked out for each other with Brotherly Love

You hated girls 'til I had my first date
I brought her home from the movies; you stayed up late
Three on the couch watchin' T.V.
I was smilin' at her while you were laughin' at me
But, I wouldn't trade it for nothin', Brotherly Love

CHORUS

There's a bond that brothers know
And it gets stronger as they grow
A love that time and miles can't come between
We disagreed but in the end
There will never be two closer friends

And Brotherly Love is something we all need.

They share the same last name and the same color eyes
But they fight like tigers over one ol' red bike
And lookin' at them reminds me of us
They're gonna fight and they're gonna fuss
But, they got something special, it's Brotherly Love

The move

Its 4 am.  I've been tossing in bed since 2, so since I have time I thought I'd update my blog.

We moved from Texas to Springdale, Arkansas last weekend.  Here's a quick rundown.  On Friday, March 13th my parents drove down from Oklahoma with an (borrowed) enclosed trailer to help us move.  While passing through Sherman (about one hour from our home) someone "bumped" into the trailer and it came off the ball.  The safety chains were on and did their job, but my parents went for a wild ride.  They said at one point the truck was on two wheels.  They feared for their lives.  Praise God, no one was hurt.  There was damage done to the truck and trailer and the nerves of my family.  But we still loaded our rented moving truck and borrowed trailer Saturday morning and were on the road by mid-afternoon.  My mom drove our van (with the boys and my niece) so that gave me six hours on the road in a vehicle all by myself!!  It was great.

My parents went home early Sunday morning, and the rest of the day would not have been fabulous without my two best girl friends and their hubbies!  Becca took the boys to church while Sam helped us unload.   Baked two spinach quiches for our lunch, stopped by Taco Bell to feed the kids and drove around until they fell asleep in the van!  Amy and JR, who live in Oklahoma, rented a hotel room in Fayetteville so they'd be here to help us unload bright and early.  Aren't my friends swell?  Levi's parents were here too, they are always a blessing and big help!  We had the truck unloaded by lunch AND had a great time.  Go figure!  We are now almost to the point where I can start decorating the house.  I'll post pictures soon.

In the meantime, I have got to find a doctor!  For all of you worrywarts, I promise to start in just a few hours...when the rest of the world is awake.

Moving Miracles...Guest Post by Levi Simpson

Since we will be moving this month, I thought it would be fitting to recall a couple of stories from moves past. Relocating can be a stressful experience, especially when you move yourself. I earnestly believe that these events demonstrate how the Lord has cared for us in miraculous ways.

The first story is about our move from Arkansas to Indiana. My wife and I had been married for about 18 months and we were living in a one-bedroom apartment. Because we did not own a lot of furniture and other large items, I reserved the smallest truck that was available. Unfortunately, I had underestimated our ability to store a lot of stuff in a small space and did not carefully consider the additional belongings that we kept in a storage unit. I felt the first pangs of anxiety on the day before our move, when the storage unit had been emptied into our apartment and the stack of boxes reached the ceiling of our living room. I don’t think I slept well that night. The next morning, as I was getting dressed, I prayed simply: “God, please help us.” As soon as I could, I called the rental center to inquire about getting a larger truck. Before I could ask, the man who answered my call apologetically informed me that they did not have the truck that I had reserved. My heart sank. Then he continued, saying that I could take a larger truck at no extra charge. I was amazed and immediately thanked God for answering my prayer, knowing that He had made this provision long before I even thought to ask. Indeed, after we finished loading, it was clear that we could not have fit everything in the smaller truck. This was especially true with our amateur loading skills, which play prominently in our most recent relocation from Indiana to Texas.

We lived in Indiana for over five years, during which we purchased our first home and added two children to our family. All of this meant that we had acquired quite a lot of furniture and other household possessions. This time, I rented the largest truck that I could get - after all, I had already learned that lesson - and we were prepared to load the truck with help from my parents. Many of our friends graciously offered to help in various ways, but Mike, a man from our church, insisted that I allow him to help on moving day. I was grateful for his offer, but thought little about it. Thankfully, a few days before the move, we made arrangements for him to help out. I thought, “He’s a big guy, he can help with the heavy lifting.” After my Dad and I started to load the truck early in the morning, it became apparent that we did not know what we were doing. When Mike arrived, he began to undo our work and show us how to do it correctly. What I did not know then was that Mike has many years experience as a professional mover and had even operated his own company. With Mike’s help, we packed the truck from floor to ceiling and front to back with no room to spare. Without his experience we would have been left with a real disaster. The Lord knew we needed this man and he became a willing servant when he offered to lend a hand.

Well, I have certainly learned some lessons from these experiences – I would be foolish not to. For our next move I have reserved the largest truck possible and hired professional movers to load the truck. Even so, my confidence is in the Lord, not in my own wisdom. After all, I think that is the lesson He really wanted me to take to heart.
